GROWTH AND EXPANSION

John recognizes that Plant City will continue to grow in the coming years but that smart growth starts with smart planning. As we grow, we need to be certain that it occurs where we have the roads and infrastructure to handle it.

Small and Medium Size Businesses

The bedrock of our community is small and medium size businesses. From providing quality jobs to sponsoring community events, our local business community is like none other and John will work to advocate for policies that help them grow and expand.

Flooding

Flooding has long been a concern for Plant City and its residents. As far back as Hurricane Donna in 1960 and as recently as Hurricane Milton in 2024, Plant City’s drainage system has been overwhelmed on numerous occasions. One of John’s top priorities will be to secure action on improving our drainage system to minimize flooding in the future.

Governance

John believes that residents should have convenient and easy access to its governing boards. While the City commission meets after normal business hours so residents can easily attend, John wants to explore this for all City boards (especially the Planning Board) in the future.

Safety

Public safety will always be a top priority and ensuring that our first responders are well equipped and fairly compensated is a must. Serving with Plant City Police or Plant City Fire Rescue should be a career, not just a stop along the way.
